4. Finished Goods Sale Types
Manage your sales data effectively with Claret App. Get started with our recommended set of sale types to help you maximize your forecasting.
Sales Types are used to capture your sales data. Now that you have set up your items and customer groups, you are ready to enter historical and forecast sales data. These sales numbers will be entered at the Item and Customer Group level, against Sale Types.
For example, you may create a Sale Type called 'History', another called 'History-vintaged', another called 'Budget' and another called 'Forecast for Make'. These could then be used as follows:
Sale Type | Data | Use Case |
---|---|---|
History | Sales history at the non-vintage level | Used to generate and then compare against forecasts and budgets at the finished goods level |
History-vintaged | Sales history at the vintage level | Used to see actual sales at the vintage level to input to determine vintage bulk positions |
Budget | Sales forecasts at the non-vintage level | Used to compare to actual sales to measure performance |
Forecast for Make | Sales forecasts at the non-vintage level | Used to determine bulk requirements. These numbers can also then be adjusted without impacting other sales forecasts in other areas of the system. |
Instructions for how to create your Sale Types can be found here.
Within Claret, there is a lot of flexibility in how many sets of sales numbers you wish to manage. The modules of Claret you are using will influence the sales data you bring into Claret, and which Sales Types you will need to create.
The following is a recommended set of Sale Types as a starting point.
Module | Sales Types |
---|---|
SELL | History |
Forecast | |
Budget | |
MAKE | History-vintaged |
Forecast for Make | |
FARM | Crop Sales History |
Crop Sales Forecast |
If you are using the 'Sell' module, you now have everything you need to get going and can head to the 'Sell' sections of the documentation for details on how to use Sales Collaboration, Long Term Planning, and Forecast Workbench. To continue setting up your data for our other modules, carry on to step 5.
